Lockdown and Productivity

While I am not too happy about being in lockdown, I do agree that it had to be done. I mean with Christmas and New Years it was bound to happen. I've noticed however that for me personally this lockdown has been much different than the other two- well if you could even count the second one as a lockdown. I have been much more productive this time, with my writing.
I seem to have just left my writer's block, and at first it started with me writing random scenes, getting back into the universe I had created slowly but surely. And now I am making real progress on my book, though I will not be sharing my word count for personal reasons.
It has got me thinking about where this sudden surge of productivity has come from? I looked to twitter to see if others have been feeling the same way, and a simple search found out all I need to know. Jonny Geller - CEO of the Curtis Brown Group recently tweeted about receiving a higher quantity and quality of manuscripts. He concludes that lockdown has been great for productivity.
Others share thoughts about how alleviation of social anxiety has helped their creativity. How creating to do lists has helped them be more productive during this time period.
For me I feel it’s mostly remembering the first ever lockdown when I did- well absolutely nothing. People all over social media were posting about all the time they had spent on things that they were passionate about such as “glow-ups”, finishing projects, and doing all sorts of fun things. This is my second chance to get something done in time that I'll never get back.
Now I made no new year's resolutions this year. Last year made me unmotivated enough so I didn’t even think of making them when the time came. But I had made a promise to myself even before new year- that 2021 will be the year I finally finish my first draft.
With my current progress I have all hopes of being able to achieve this goal of mine- follow along on my journey as next time I will be talking about one of my greatest writing strengths.
